Have you ever noticed there is a difference between joy and happines? I have, which is why I believe happiness is an emotion and joy is not. Think about it. We say people feel happy and unhappy, but we don't say people are joyful and unjoyful. In fact, the word unjoyful doesn't exist. What's going on here? I think it means joy comes totally from a spiritual place. Joy is rooted in the soul and its focus on service and giving. Joy orients you towards understanding the needs of others, lifting you out of your own discontent, misery, or unhappiness as you do so. Joy reminds you that no matter what the outer circumstances of your life there is someone who needs you and someone who is very grateful that you are here. So, give joy this week to others. Give a smile, a hug, an encouraging word. Give of your time, energy, money, and especially give them your love. Others need you. You are here for a purpose. Give joy, and notice how in giving it you naturally experience joy in return.
