Thought of the day

There are many thoughts we have easily over 40,000 a day. I just want to add one more.

A game of chess anyone?

"Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You."

A Game of Chess Anyone?

The game of Chess is not really my game. I do, however, enjoy playing now and again, but I never learned any sort of formal official strategies; the moves and routines that have been named after famous chess players. I was inspired the other day however by a couple of things when playing the game.

I realized that there are some rules in chess that if we adopt in our own lives, or come to understand them better, our life might be a little easier. The first is Touch Move; in the game of chess, if you touch a piece, you must then move that piece. It doesn’t mean that you can’t later change your mind, but once committed, that piece must move. Don’t you find that your life is like that too? If you make a decision, choices, then we are usually committed to move in that direction at least a little bit. That is why it pays off for us to make thoughtful choices instead of living from some form of default map.

Then there is the fact that each piece has its very own special way to move. They can’t move any other way. I bet we all know someone like that; no matter how you want them to move or think, they will do things their way and only their way. If we want to win the game we have to work with them and move in just the way they want, but to our own advantage. The thing that sticks out the most is that while the King (the male) is the piece that spells out victory or failure – it is the Queen (the female) that is the most powerful player on the board!

Life is a game of chess – just make sure you play your own game!

Don't forget to take a look at my book too!

Can someone please tell me why my life sucks?!

Do you have that friend that is always saying; "It'll never work." Have you heard them say, "I'm not a pessimist, I'm a realist!". If you know someone like that then they need my book. Its a little book packed full of perspective to help anyone stay on course - it's better than a compass!
