As they say in the well known USA Army recruiting campaign;
“Be all that you can be …”. In real life however just how can you
do this. In modern psychology, self actualization, or individuation are
terms that they use for this. Self huh? What?
Let me first remind everyone that the world is full of
triads. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit being one of the biggest
ones. Some more are; id, ego, super ego, or Conscious, Unconscious,
super-conscious, or mind, body and spirit. Neal Donald Walsh writes quite
of few of these in his book, Conversations with God (which I recommend
reading).
I want to focus on mind, body and spirit. To be all
that you can be, we must somehow find the balance within this
triad.
The first trick to finding this balance is knowing that
there is no true balance. Your mind body and spirit will never be in
perfect balance. By that I mean there are times when your body will
simply not obey your mind. When you get sick, you can think yourself well
as much as you want… and I will always wish you good luck with that. Of
course the mind can and does accomplish a lot, but it sure did not stop me from
having a heart attack. Has you mind ever been so preoccupied with
something that you forgot to eat? Sustain your body? We cannot hope to
balance these things, but we MUST come to know them, understand and NEVER
ignore them. When your love is broken (spirit) you have to acknowledge
that, but don’t let your mind or body go to waste because of it. In order
to BE ALL THAT YOU CAN BE, you must acknowledge and equally USE your
mind, body, and spirit. This is what Jung would call individuation…
someone that is whole.
Someone that is a whole being within body, mind and spirit.
Bring this triad together and you will be a magnet for so much!
Bright Blessings ~ Richard
