Thought of the day

There are many thoughts we have easily over 40,000 a day. I just want to add one more.

Can you make the connection?

Can you make the connection?

Oneness. This spiritual principle has existed forever, but few of us every practice it in our daily lives. Honestly it is not the easiest, and sometimes not the most pleasant thing to practice. The Buddhist will tell you, you are connected to everything, from the highest spiritual monk to the dog dirt when you are cleaning up after your dog. We don’t even have to go that far to feel uncomfortable. Just imagine how you are connected to the drunk, smelling of urine, sleeping on the doorstep; we are all connected.

The Masters have taught us this. Jesus said, “want you do to the least of your brothers, you do unto me”. Buddha said, “ The foot feels the foot when it feels the ground.” Or “He who experiences the unity of life sees his own Self in all beings, and all beings in his own Self, and looks on everything with an impartial eye.”

What does this mean to our lives? In terms of our relationship to the human race it should make us more tolerant. See yourself in every other person, and you can see yourself as both a bum, and a success. The choices are always ours to make, and we get to choose in which direction we want to move. But learn not to discount others, or you will be discounting even yourself. Value lives in the heart and soul of every man woman and child. Discount a man’s actions, not the man. Because as the old saying says; “there, but by the grace of God, go I”. Meaning we are all connected and you could easily end up as the next bum on the doorstep, smelling of urine.

Our society as cocooned itself so much we are now feeling very disconnected. The idea of Oneness is challenged daily; “I have nothing in common with THAT!” Well, my prayer is, like any cocoon, a butterfly will emerge –

please join me in that prayer.

Bright blessings ~ Richard
