Thought of the day

There are many thoughts we have easily over 40,000 a day. I just want to add one more.

Control... we have a problem.

Richard Bach writes in his Messiah’s Handbook; “There are no mistakes.  The events you bring upon yourself, no matter how unpleasant, are necessary in order to learn what you need to learn.  Whatever step you take, it’s necessary to reach the place you’ve chosen to go.”  Well, there’s an ancient piece of wisdom.  Buddhists have been saying it for centuries.

It’s like I say, “don’t tell me you’re a victim - show me you’re a survivor”.  I understand how very easy it is to be swept away with our default reactions to those events or actions that are seemingly not of our own creation.  There are things we are taught from an early age, and these reactions seem to be hardwired into us.  But truly, you are the master of your world.

Imagine the person that seeks blame in everyone else.  Do you think for a second that they feel like they have any control?  Do you understand what it means to have no control over your own life?  I can tell you that person is NOT a happy camper.  Self responsibility is the only way to gain control over your life.  Once we have control over our life, then we naturally can begin to forge a life that we want.

I know there will forever be those of you that will say; “But I didn’t choose to…”  OK… you didn’t choose this, or you didn’t choose that.  But in some way indirectly you probably did.  And even if you are the “victim” of the most brutal, horrendous crime – you obviously did not choose to be mugged (for example), but how you choose to RESPOND to being mugged is totally in your control.

Trust me – your choice of HOW you will RESPOND to life will give you back your control of said LIFE.

Bright blessings ~ Richard
