“ The way you see people is the way you treat them.”, Zig Ziglar said that, and it’s true, but not complete. What he doesn’t talk about is that no matter what their authentic self is all about, how you see them, how you treat them – is what they become (at least to you).
This is not true in every case, but we see it most often. It is possible to rise above the thoughts of others, it is possible to just not give a damn about what others think, but often we are also taught to care what others think. Do you think your co-worker is lazy? Well, you’d better get used to doing most of the work then. Can you not trust your old friend from high school? Then be prepared to get hurt by them.
The human soul possesses something called empathy. Some people can tap into this quality better than others, but everyone has it. When you think something of someone, they will sense this, and even if you try to hide your treatment of that person you can’t hide everything. If you think someone is stupid, you will treat them as if they are stupid, they in turn will feel how you are feeling and ultimately become stupid around you.
If on the other hand you think of someone as a special warrior from God, ready fight dragons, you will treat them so, and they in turn will become a special warrior from God, ready to fight dragons! But lets start small… lets start thinking of everyone as children of God, capable of anything. Then sit back and watch everyone fall in love with you.
