Thought of the day

There are many thoughts we have easily over 40,000 a day. I just want to add one more.

If I only had a brain ... a heart ... a life

Do you feel secure?  When you go out shopping as you’re walking back to your car that you might get mugged?  As you are eating lunch quietly by yourself in the café, to feel like your co-workers are talking about you?  Do you feel like you have to roll over and do what others ask or expect of you in order for you to be liked?  Are you a people pleaser?

You know it’s become an epidemic in western society I think. We all want to help someone else and usually it’s at the expense of our Self.  I think the root of this issue is self esteem.  All those issues above are issues of self esteem.  If you have positive self esteem and confidence you will feel more secure.  With self esteem you value yourself and you won’t care what co-workers think. If any of those things mentioned above sound like you, then you will want to take a serious look at your self esteem.

None of those things are inherently wrong, but most are based in fear, and as we discussed before, fear will hold you back… constrict you and keep you from being all that you can be.  So how do we work on our self esteem?  There are a few ways.  The first is very easy; just sit down and write out a list of those things that you are good at, or that you like about yourself.  Post that list somewhere you’ll see it everyday, maybe in a few places.  Another way is more difficult but will go a million miles to help you gain self esteem.  Think about something that you’ve wanted for a while.  Don’t make it too simple. For example, you’ve wanted to loose weight for a while but have just not been able to.  Sit down and create your plan on how you will loose X number of pound by so and so date.  Make sure that you mark out milestones in your plan.  With every little success you have your self esteem will grow.  This way the next time you roll over will be in bed as you try to get comfortable.
