So how are those New Year resolutions going? Have you adhered to them, or now, at the end of January, you’ve pretty much given in. Well, if you've given in don’t beat yourself up too much. If you created your resolutions as goals, the wonderful thing about goals is that they can be modified and updated.
When we modify or update our goals however, it is hugely important that we consider those obstacles that got in our way. Now I know you considered obstacles when developing your plan, as we talked about, but there always seem to be some unforeseen issues that arise. When we update our goals, we can make the modifications to adjust for these new obstacles.
Keep an open and positive mind. We have to learn from our mistakes, otherwise they are just mistakes. And never forget what Richard Bach taught us in Illusions – “…perspective, use it or loose it.” The ‘day-to-day’ can catch up to us very easily, and we can easily become overwhelmed, but if the goal was important enough to write down and plan, then don’t loose that perspective, hang tough. Debbie Ford in her great book, The right questions, reminds us that if we are not going forward then we are ultimately going backwards.
So keep your eyes on the prize, and do as my GPS is constantly reminding me – “recalculating”
Love and Bright blessings ~ Richard
