Nature's Way.
They tell us that the quickest
way from point A to point B is a straight line.
Of course if you’re a geometry nut that’s true or if you make maps I
suppose you like it that way. - “As the crow flies”.
But is that nature’s way? Next time you look at a map, count just how
many geometrical rivers you see. You won’t
count very high; you actually won’t even get up to one! There are NO straight rivers in the
world. They all twist and turn. Try this experiment. Go to your water faucet, and turn it on very
slowly - at first it’s just dripping but as the flow increases ever so slightly
it starts to come out of the faucet like a snake wriggling back and forth
against its self. THIS IS THE NATURAL FLOW OF THINGS.
So, if water naturally flows like
this, why should your life be any different?
Oh, sure it’s FASTER to get from point A to point B in a straight line,
but it’s also unnatural. Why do you
think so many people get lost in the woods if they don’t have any tools to keep
them on a straight path? It’s not
natural to walk in a straight path. Life
is meant to have twists and turns. You
are supposed to not always know what is around the next corner – that is the
way of LIFE.
Is this message all about
hiking? No. I want to tell you, just as it is natural to
deal with twists and turns in our physical lives; it is necessary for us to
deal with twists and turns in our emotional and spiritual lives as well. There’s no reason to get upset because getting
from point A to point B is taking too long, or is not “straight enough” – I promise
you, it is not natures way to do it that way, and it’s pointless to even
try. Of course we need to have a plan to
get from point A to point B, but trying to plan a straight line is pointless;
relish your twists and turns, don’t hate them.
