Ready for that leap of faith?

“A fledgling leaps because it trusts its wings; a lemming leaps because everybody else is doing it. One’s an adventure into new dimensions, the other’s suicide.” Richard Bach wrote that and it certainly gives one cause to think. What makes you leap?
Or maybe the better question is, when was the last time you leapt? If you were more lemming than fledgling last time you leapt, you may have shunned away from leaping for a time. That’s understandable, but of course there are many times choices arise that ask you to take that leap; can you do it?
One of the ten questions Debbie Ford, author of Dark side Of the Light Chasers, teaches is, “Do you make this choice guided by faith or fear.” Most lemmings choose to jump out of fear. "What will the others think of me if I do not jump with them?" "What will my life be like if I loose my fellow lemmings?" "What will happen if I'm seen as 'different'?" "What if not jumping is the wrong thing to do?"
Fear most certainly can motivate us, but is that motivation always in the right direction? There are two directions – moving toward your dreams and visions or moving away – fledglings move toward, lemmings move away.
