“Enjoy life's journey but leave no tracks!” This is one of the Native American 10 Commandments. If you’ve not read these you can view them at:

I was looking at these and this one particularly caught my eye, and made me think. Of course we should enjoy life’s journey, but what’s all this stuff about leaving no tracks? I actually had to meditate on this, and I called upon Raven to help me figure it out. It finally came to me with his help.
When they say leave no track, I feel they only partially mean make it look like you’ve never been here. If it’s important to us that others know we have been around, than we are all wrapped up in our egos; far more than we should be. What do you care if you are remembered when you are gone. Trust me, you will be, but by those that love what you do and say – those that love you – everything else is just glitter.
But what of the rest? How do we journey without leaving tracks? We must walk softly. We must move forward silently. This does not mean that we do not have an impact on those around us, just the opposite. If we carry ourself with respect, integrity and love for God, ourself, and all others then we walk softly. If we do not rage against that which we cannot change, and reason with that which we can, then we progress in a calmness needed for silence.
Bring these things into your life and watch how your journey changes. Sometimes people do not need to follow our footprints, sometimes people want to follow our hearts.
O' GREAT SPIRIT
help me always
to speak the truth quietly,
to listen with an open mind
when others speak,
and to remember the peace
that may be found in silence. (Cherokee Prayer)
