What do you see in your friend?

What do you see in your friend?

“… let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit. For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught. …” Khalil Gibran wrote this about friendship in his now famous book The Prophet, and it’s very true.
There are so many different aspects of any relationship whether that is a relationship of lovers, mothers or brothers. But if we approach each relationship with the intention of giving the best of our spirit and open to the best of your lover’s, mother’s, brother’s spirit, then our friendships will deepen.
Everybody has their quirks. Does she pick her teeth after every meal? Does he snore? Does she talk incessantly? We would let these things get in the way of our friendships? If you see the spirit in another, and feel the connection to yourself and everything else around you in this way, these ‘little things’ become blessings of individuality and become a joy instead of a curse. It is only when we are deeply connected can we know individuality. Love and Bright blessings ~ Richard
