When I grow up I wanna be ...

When I grow up, I wanna be ... |
When we were children it was so easy for us to see the future. We knew exactly what we wanted to be, what we wanted to do for the rest of our lives. How many of you guys wanted to be police or firemen, perhaps a few priests out there? How many of you women wanted to be wonderful supporting housewives, CEO’s of big business, models or actresses? The thing is when we were children we were allowed to dream; we were allowed to have a vision.
Then something happened around the age of 20; we needed to get serious. Unfortunately, that did not mean getting a serious dream! Many of our dreams faded and our vision became blinded. We got wrapped up in the ‘real world’. We had to get a job, because there were things we wanted but couldn’t get without the money. And the more things we got, the more money we seemed to need. Soon the dream was long gone, replaced with worry, ambition, want. We started merely accepting life, not making it. How many times have you been shot down because you were a “Dreamer” – “Get real”, you’re told! And for some reason we buy into that 'reality'… maybe those nay-sayers are older and supposedly wiser, our parents perhaps… an older brother or sister – a counselor at school, and our dreams get dimmer and dimmer till they are gone.
But it doesn’t need to be that way. We can still have a vision, and it’s perfectly OK to DREAM! Without an inspiring dream or vision to pull us forward, it is so easy to feel resigned or bored with life – many of us unfortunately already feel that way! Step out of that rut before it turns into a grave and start living life forward like it is supposed to be lived!
