You can run but you cannot hide.
Are
you who you truly say you are? Our egos
have designed any number of persona’s we can wear like a mask. In today technological world, it’s even
easier to hide…Hide behind your email, hide within your blog, hide behind your
anonymous screen name in a chat room.
You can be anyone you want to be in your MySpace profile.
There
is only one person that you cannot hide from; yourself.
Having
different personas is not a bad thing.
We all do it. I tend to behave a
different way with my grandmother than I do with my best bud when we are
hanging out at the bar. If I treated my
buds like my grandmother, or my grandmother like my buds at the bar, my life
would be a living hell.
But
at the end of the day, when the masks come off, when we scrape off the caked on
makeup and pull off the costumes who are you looking at in the mirror. Can you even see your reflection? Don’t loose yourself in your personas; for
they are constructs… they are your defense, nothing more. If you become that which you use as a cloak
to protect you from the cold in this world, you will be invisible when you take
the cloak off. Be what you must be, but
never loose yourself.
