Removing Backgrounds from Pictures in Office
Often someone will find the perfect picture to use in a Power Point presentation, but it will have a white background. This is fine unless the presentation has a blue background. Today's tip will show an easy way to make any one color in an image transparent so the background is visible.
The above image is a perfect example of an unwanted white background. To remove it:
- Select the image by clicking on it. (There should be eight dots around the outside.)
- If not already open, open the picture toolbar by selecting View --> Toolbars --> Pictures.
- From the picture toolbar, select the Set Transparent Color Tool

- Click while the arrow at the end of the eraser is anywhere in the color to be removed.
Note: If the color is not only in the background (i.e. a cartoon where the character has white eyes), it may be necessary to change the background color in a photo editing tool first since the color to be erased is erased in the entire image.
Following these steps will help to create more professional looking Power Point Presentations and Word documents.
