Want a Personal Cell Tower?

It is now possible for a limited number of people to connect to the Sprint mobile network from their home, even if there is little or no coverage. This is possible because of Airave, a new device that allows Sprint mobile phone calls to be routed over a high speed internet connection using Voice over Internet Protocol for a low monthly fee. While not currently available in most markets, this technology could change the way people use mobile phones.

There are two major advantages for the customer in using an Airave. First, customers in areas with weak coverage will be able to use the strong signal being broadcast by the Airave. It even allows up to three Sprint phones to simultaneously place phone calls. In addition, according to Sprint, calls can be seamlessly transferred from the device to Sprint's mobile network. Second, calls started using the Airave will not use plan minutes, basically meaning their is no per call cost for domestic calls made using the device. This could allow people in more remote areas to switch to using only their mobile phone and cancel traditional home service.

Many people suffer from poor mobile coverage in a place they want it most, their home. Devices like the Airave should help to eliminate that problem.
