I was thrilled to see that President Obama has spoken out against corrupt executives like those at AIG who take handouts from government and then want to pay themselves huge bonuses while laying off people.

People living in ivory towers make decisions that affect millions of people every day in the name of protecting corporations, all the while lining their own pockets or like Madoff - those friends, family and employees who support their political agendas within their companies.

Hopefully in the future, HR in companies such as this, will play more of a strategic role in speaking to the spirit of the law in companies, rather than the letter of the law and playing the political game.  If it is not up to HR to speak to ethics, then whose responsibility is it?

As you venture out seeking your new career, I hope you will have the courage to stand up for what it right so that we have a future to hand on to the next generation who can be proud of us, not hang their heads in shame that the institutions that were supposed to create a better life actually in the long run caused more harm than good, including Financial institutions.

Business is about the bottom line, but it is not only about the bottom line.
