Flaring Nostrils in Newborns

Newborns first few days of life. After the Newborn is discharged home with the family. Any difficulty breathing, PLEASE CALL the DOCTOR or 911. LEARN INFANT CPR AND GET CERTIFIED...TO KNOW WHEN AND HOW TO RESPOND TO YOUR CHILD, YOUR RESPONSIBILITY... Newborns learn to flare nostrils at birth, yet if it is continuous there is an airway problem. Stimulate the newborn (massage the bottom of feet) and watch for the rise and fall of the chest movement, and expansion of the trunk (chest cavity), which indicates good air circulating in and out of the lungs and heart. If the newborn is grunting and flaring at the same time, which means there is difficulty in breathing and it is increasing. There could be fluid in the nasal passage or lungs, the newborn can aspirate vomit. Therefore burp...burp well after feedings. Do no over feed. Normal nostril flaring in an adult that is occasional is fine, but for newborns it is not. Yet still indicates air exchange is not well, if continuous. Newborns are learning to breath on there own after the first breath of life during inhalation and exhalation. Read an anatomy and physiology book about human form. This is reality on Earth. Thank you, Adoni.
