Prevention: How Many Steps?

How many steps or actions does it take to turn on a light? Well if you are sitting in a chair, first get off the chair and then stand up and away from the chair, then walk to the light switch, then turn it off. Now how much time does that take? It depends on how close the switch is to the chair your sitting in.

Now use this same simple exercise to figure out how many steps it takes to do any activity of daily living. Then how many steps it takes, and how much time and how many resources it takes to go shopping and drive your car...

When we slow down and do less, we need less resources.

Try another exercise. How much effort does it take to use cash instead of a credit card?

Well first you need to make the cash and that takes times. Yet it takes less money to use cash.
It takes less money to use cash. Now what if we switched to a point system instead of cash?

How easier would that be? Then no one would want to try to take your cash, nor try to devise a marketing scheme to get you to spend your cash. Now wouldn't be easier to have a card that has points on it? Or better yet, we all work for a simplier lifestyle and share what we have made?

What ever happened to the grassroots consumerism? How many resources do we need to live?

We need basic items, cloths, shoes, undergarments, brush, nail filer, shampoo, toothbrush, towel, and a few more items to stay warm, etc. We need food and a variety, we need shelter and a way to travel. Now how simple is this lifestyle?

Now if you had to pack one small suitcase, what would you really need? Say you were going on a trip for one week? How much fun would it be to have less than more?

Our current consumism lifestyle has gone too far from the needs for basics? So how to change our perception regarding simplicity? This is a question that each soul must ask there mind.

We are all so caught up in the glamour of life and miss the beauty of life.
