Parenting is harder these days then it was in previous generations for many reasons. Many are without the tools and skills to raise children the way we were raised. I was raised in a mostly violence free home. I can only remember a handful of times being smacked or hit for doing something wrong. Though I do remember crying harder when I knew that my parents were disappointed in me then I ever did at the sting of being hit. Now it is illegal to hit your child. If that is the punishment you learned because that is what your childhood taught you, how do you correct your child?

Couple this with children who by and large are different and growing up in a world that is vastly different. Teaching to balance when we are still figuring it out leads to frustration. What parents need are new skills... new tools... working toward helping our children make the best of a their future.
