I want to help you to coninue your edcuation, in whatever form is best for you. I want to help you define your educational needs and goals and help you negotiate the confusing maze of applications, tests and paperwork to implement your goals. I want to help identify the areas where you need attention such as test prep for admissions. I also want to help identify possible sources of financial assistance to help acheieve your goals. I also want to help you adjust to your new learning environment and assist you in identifying potential challenges so that we can identify available assistance.
I am a Developmental Advising Specialist, otherwise known to most as an academic advisor at a major land grant university in the notheast United States. I have worked with all ages of people with varying goals throughout my ten years as an academic advisor. I am very proud and happy to say that those who I have advised rate me the best influence in their edcuational endeavors. My goal has always been to provide all options available to a person in a non-judgmental manner. I know the need of listeening to others carefully to best assist them. I have always enjoyed working most with average people, like me, who only desire to make their life better through education.
I graduated with my Bachelor's degree from West Virginia Wesleyan in 1986. I received my Master's in Education from West Virginia University in 1992 where I specialised in Educational Leadership. I have been a member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for over 5 years. I had the opportunity, a few years ago, to present the results of my program to assits at-risk students at a national conference of this Assoication.
