4/13/2008     DavidS898   1 star I would not call this person back for reporting advice on options trading. He seemed to know less than I about selling put options & closing transactions & how to report them. I asked what I thought was a straight forward what if scenario. Specifically, i sold a put option in October 2007 that had an expiy of Jan 2008. I subsequently bought back the put option in Dec 2007 to close my position out at a loss. How would I report this?. I never got a clear answer. After almost 10 min, he seemed to suggest i had to deal with it as two separate transactions which is clearly not the case per IRS publications. The call was going nowhere so I gave up. Very dissatified.
