Tips on 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization Issues
I was on the board of directors for 3 years of a performing Shakespeare theater company and was the board chair for the shutdown phase of this theater company. I learned a number of valuable lessons on what needs to be paid attention to during the shutdown period and analyzed a number of the issues that resulted in the shutdown. Some say that you can only truly learn through experience during hard times, from that point of view I have a perspective that may be very useful to particularly theater arts companies trying to survive in these hard economic times. In addition, I am in my third year as Vice Chair of the board of trustees for a medical 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and have dealt in particular with Alzheimer's issues in this capacity. My experience in dealing with my father's Alzheimer's and the matters of working within a medical nonprofit organization gives me knowledge that may well help you in these areas. Furthermore, I have a Bachelor's Degree in economics from Stanford University and an MBA from the University of Santa Clara.
